Guys’ deep voices help women remember →
Oh my gosh, what if we had audio medical textbooks narrated by Morgan Freeman or James Earl Jones? Female med students would be BALLIN. Someone would get rich for sure.

pill for white teeth without the painful process of whitening strips and a pill for perfectly styled hair. Now wouldn’t that be nice. And maybe a “good driver” pill for those of us dealing with south FL snowbird drivers!
Ooh, perfectly styled hair. I would buy that pill fo sho.

There is a cure for sweating! Check out Drysol… it’s an aluminum chloride mixture.
Been there, done that, broke out in blisters.

Razor burn. Better yet, a pill to prevent the hair on my legs from growing. Kill 2 birds with one stone.
Morning breath prevention

Patience enhancement.
Sunburn (you know, like a sunscreen pill to avoid the slimy coconut smelly junk)

Anonymous asked: So my friend has this bubble on the inside of her bottom lip. It's all red around the outside and it bubbles up to a shiny white surface. It's not herpes because we know she doesn't have it, and we're pretty sure it's not a canker sore because it's been there for around 2 months. It kind of fluctuates in size, and when it gets big it hurts really bad. She's...

Sounds like your doc is doing the best for you. Are you getting a CBC to check for possible polycythemia too? Hope your energy gets boosted!
Well, my hemoglobin was 14.6 at the Red Cross 2 weeks ago, and I dumped out 2 units, so I think I’m ok until I’m due for labs with my PCP.

I'm a patient again.
So there’s this doctor who is awesome. I’ve finagled my way into working with her for the last 2 months, and I’m totally loving it. She tries to recruit me to her practice like erryday…a dozen times a day. She’s an excellent doctor. I consider her my mentor. She’s the one trying to hook me up with a drug rep, remember? Last year she pretty much made my life...

Worry, worry everywhere.
Ok, I wrote a novel of a reply and my computer ate it, so I’m going to try again.
Well, Type A-non, it seems that you have the same problem that many pre-meds have. You’re an achiever. You have high standards for yourself. You like being in control of your own life, and you like knowing that you achieved a goal on your own. Unfortunately, this same hard working spirit can be...

Calci-tums
Me (to patient in hospital): Hey, I thought you were supposed to go home yesterday!
Patient: (shoves a HANDFUL of Tums in his mouth) well my doctors said my calcium level was real high and they don't know why, so they're keeping me till they can figure it out
Me: Hmmm.... I have a pretty good idea why.

Anonymous asked: When at medical school interviews, what kind of questions would you suggest for me to ask the interviewer? Is that even considered good or no? Just curious as the what type of question is considered a plus to ask. Also, a lot of people who apply to med schools apply to 20+, is it stupid to limit yourself due to about 8 for financial shortcomings?

That Girly Stuff: Not being able to relate to...
I recently went to a party (read: extremely WASPish supper club) with a bunch of ladies that ranged in age from 25-40ish. I stuck with the younger ones, mistakenly believing that I would have plenty in common with them to talk about.
When we sat down for dinner, they all started talking about their children. Is this all that women have in common to talk about these days? I love babies and kids,...

captainphd asked: How do residency interviews compare to med school interviews? How many programs do most people rank in order to confidently match? Did you do away rotations at all the programs you interviewed at? Was your #1 choice program an easy pick, or was it a struggle to rank your list? Sorry for the overload of questions, but I'm still trying to figure out the process. I appreciate the info!

To my follower who runs a thinspo blog,
I checked out your blog after you followed me, like I do with all new followers. Before I could even get through the first page, I was totally horrified by what I saw. The images of rail-thin girls you posted evoked the same intense sadness, anger, and sympathy that I get when I see pictures of Auschwitz survivors. It upset me that you have idolized these images and have actually set them up in...

Anonymous asked: In your opinion, what's the best time to get married during the whole going to med school and becoming a doctor thing? Is it better to do it before med school, after the first two years, to wait until you graduate or what? (I would be the only one in school, he would already be working if that would make a difference in your answer)

Anonymous asked: When you were preparing for your MCAT, did you take a lot of practice tests? I'm having a hard time figuring out where I am since the free tests online and given by Kaplan seem easier... I guess what I'm asking is if your practice scores were an accurate gauge of how well you did on the actual test day. :)

missensemutation asked: I'm a 2nd year Biochem major, and I (have been working up the nerve to do this ask thing) just want to say that you are too awesome for words. I want to be like you one day--become a great doctor ('cause you know you will :D) and be an awesome Christian as well. For me, it just seems so hard to keep the faith when there are premeds that are atheist/agnostic/follow a different religion....
